The SAVEDpreneur™ Spotlight: Assata Murray, Founder of Women On A Mission
In 2017, God gave me a literal vision. I was speaking on a stage to thousands. I always saw my children, my husband, and our business. I am holding on to that vision.
Assata Murray will be the first to tell you she keeps running from the call. And she will also be the first to tell you she cannot stay away from it. In 2017, God gave her a literal vision of herself speaking on a stage to thousands. In 2023, He gave her Women On A Mission. And in between, she has been building, creating, selling, trusting, and refusing to quit even when the YouTube videos were not getting views and the finances were not where she needed them to be. Assata is a wife, a mom, a child of God, and an entrepreneur with a dream so big it scares her. That is usually a sign it came from the right place.
Let's lean in.
Tell us who you are and what is your God-driven purpose?
My name is Assata Murray. I am an entrepreneur, wife, mom, and most importantly I am a child of God. My God-given purpose is to help women find their purpose in Christ and spread the gospel to all.
What does it mean to be saved and how do you live a saved lifestyle?
To me, what it means to be saved is to give your life to Christ. Believe in your heart that He came in a human body, lived a sin-free life, died on the cross, and on the third day He rose again with all power in His hands. Then confess with your mouth that He is Lord.
Living a saved life is picking up your cross daily and following Jesus. Knowing that you are not going to be perfect, but that we have grace through the blood.
Success in the Kingdom looks different from the success of the world. How do you explain the difference?
The world’s view of success is striving for money and material gain, working hard and grinding until you get it. The Kingdom’s view of success is putting Jesus first, seeking the Kingdom, and doing things properly. Fast riches will not last. Hard work and adequate rest in God is what gets you fulfilled. Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead your every move and being selfless is what gets you where you need to be.
When God gave you a vision for your life and work, what did it look like? Are you working to fulfill it? How?
In 2017, God gave me a literal vision. I was speaking on a stage to thousands. I always saw my children, my husband, and our business. I am holding on to that vision. Years later in 2023, He gave me Women On A Mission.
What does being a SAVEDpreneur™ mean to you? What is your kingdom assignment and how are you carrying out your assignment now?
Being a SAVEDpreneur™ means that you have a special calling on your business. Your business not only helps your family but it shapes generations. My Kingdom assignment, like every Christian’s, is to win souls to Jesus. We are called to be set apart and be different. I am carrying it out now by sharing my testimony with the world.
What did God call you to build, and how did you know? What steps did you take to be obedient? How quickly did it take you to answer the call?
It still takes me a minute to answer the call because I keep running. What He called me to build is so big it scares me. I am working on building a business that not only blesses families but actually helps them. I want to be the one that invests in small business startups and keeps families in their homes and off the streets.
The steps I am taking are simple: I started the business. I make things on my Cricut to sell so that I can start building the finances to fund that dream. It is hard, but I will not give up.
Where did obedience cost you something—money, time, identity, approval? And how did you handle the tension?
I have not worked a 9-5 since 2021. The Lord told me to create my YouTube videos and He would handle the rest.
It was hard because for a long time I was not getting any views at all and I was getting frustrated. But God has blessed us and we have never wanted for anything. The Scripture is true: we lack nothing in Christ Jesus.
What upcoming projects are you working on that you want our readers to know about?
