April Prayer Targets: What We Should Be Covering in Prayer This Month
This month, I want to give you six specific prayer targets for April. These are not random. Every single one of them is connected to what God is doing and what the enemy is trying to do right now.
Prayer is not a last resort. It is the first line of defense.
And right now, with everything happening in our nation, in our communities, in our homes, and in the spirit, we cannot afford to show up to prayer casually. We need to show up targeted. Strategic. Intentional. Because the Word says it clearly:
"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16 (KJV)
Not passive prayer. Not vague, general, get-around-to-it prayer. Fervent prayer. Prayer that means something. Prayer that costs you something. Prayer that moves heaven.
This month, I want to give you six specific prayer targets for April. These are not random. Every single one of them is connected to what God is doing and what the enemy is trying to do right now. If you have fasted and prayed with us the first three days of this month, carry these with you into your prayer room. And even if you have not, let these be the anchors for your daily prayer time.
1. Pray for the Government.
I know. This one is uncomfortable for some of us. But we do not get to opt out of this prayer because we do not like who is in office. The Word does not give us that option.
"The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will." Proverbs 21:1 (KJV)
Every leader. Every official. Every person sitting in a seat of authority at every level of government. Their hearts are in God's hands. That means your prayer has influence over what they decide. God can turn the heart of a king the way a farmer redirects water through a channel. He does not need that leader to be saved for Him to move through them. What He needs is His people to pray.
Pray for wisdom to govern. Pray against pride and self-interest. Pray that justice and righteousness would be upheld. Pray that God would frustrate every agenda that contradicts His Word and His character. And pray for the people who are most affected by the decisions being made right now.
2. Pray Against Plots and Plans of Destruction.
We are in a season where the enemy is actively working to derail God-ordained assignments. Not just in the world, but in the lives of believers. In your life. In mine.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
God's plans for you are peace, not evil. A future. A hope. But the enemy has plans too, and he is not passive about them. He is strategic, and he is targeting people who are close to their breakthrough, close to their assignment, close to doing something significant for the Kingdom.
Pray against every plot and plan that has been formed in darkness. Pray that every trap set for you, your family, your business, your ministry, and your community would be exposed and dismantled. Pray that the plans of God would prevail over every human and demonic agenda. Remind the enemy that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and that every tongue that rises against you in judgment, God will condemn.
3. Pray for Supernatural Provision for Struggling Families, the Elderly, and the Disabled.
This one is close to my heart. There are people in our communities right now who are one crisis away from losing everything. Families who are stretched beyond what they can carry. Elderly people who are forgotten. Disabled individuals who fall through the cracks of every system designed to help them.
"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in." Matthew 25:34-35 (KJV)
When we care for the least of these, we are serving Jesus. And when we pray for them, we are moving God's hand toward them.
Pray for supernatural provision to reach the households that are struggling. Pray for God to send the right people, the right resources, and the right opportunities. Pray for the elderly to be seen, honored, and cared for. Pray for the disabled to receive what they need without having to fight for their dignity. And ask God how you can be part of the answer to the prayer you are praying.
4. Pray Against Attacks on God-Ordained Relationships and Friendships.
The enemy hates covenant. He hates the relationships that God has put together because he knows what two or three people can do when they are in agreement and aligned with God's purposes.
"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24 (KJV)
There are people in your life that God placed there on purpose. Not by accident. Not by coincidence. And the enemy knows it. He is working to create offense, misunderstanding, distance, and division in the relationships that are meant to carry the most fruit.
Pray a hedge of protection over your God-ordained relationships. Pray against offense that has no foundation. Pray against jealousy, competition, and comparison that creeps into even the best friendships. Pray for discernment to know who belongs in your life and who is a distraction. And pray for the courage to repair what God says is worth repairing.
5. Pray for a Heart and a Posture of Strategic Prayer.
This one is for us. This is the prayer we pray about how we pray.
"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16 (KJV)
Most of us know how to pray. But are we praying strategically? Are we praying with focus and faith, or are we going through the motions? Are we coming to God with specificity, or are we throwing up general requests and hoping something lands?
This month, ask God to upgrade your prayer life. Ask Him to give you a spirit of intercession. Ask Him to show you what to pray, when to pray, and how to pray for the things that matter most right now. Ask Him to make you a watchman on the wall, someone who sees what is coming in the spirit before it manifests in the natural. Because the people who pray strategically are the ones who move mountains.
6. Pray for Lost Souls and Divine Appointments to Point People to Jesus.
This is the one that should drive everything else. At the end of the day, every prayer we pray, every assignment we carry, every business we build is ultimately about one thing: people finding Jesus.
"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest." Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV)
The harvest is ready. The people are hungry. They are looking for something real, something true, something that holds up under the weight of real life. And God wants to use you, specifically you, to point them to Jesus. Not from a pulpit necessarily. In your everyday life. In your business. In your community. In the DMs. At the grocery store. Wherever God places you.
Pray for divine appointments this month. Pray that God would send people across your path who are ready to hear the gospel. Pray for the boldness to open your mouth when the moment comes. And pray for the lost people in your life by name. Put their names on a list and bring them to the altar every day in April.
April Prayer
Adoration. Confession. Thanksgiving. Supplication.
Father God, we come before You with reverence and with awe. You are God. You are sovereign over every nation, every government, every household, and every heart. There is no power on earth or in the spirit that sits above You. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and we worship You before we ask You for anything. You deserve all of our praise not for what You do but for who You are.
Lord, we confess that we have not always prayed the way You called us to pray. We have been passive when You called us to be strategic. We have been fearful when You called us to be bold. We have allowed busyness, discouragement, and distraction to pull us away from the altar. Forgive us. Right now we surrender every excuse, and we come before You with clean hands and a willing heart. Create in us a right spirit, God, and renew our hunger for Your presence.
We thank You for this month. We thank You for the breath in our bodies and the assignment still in our hands. We thank You that Your plans for us are peace and not evil, that You have not forgotten us, and that You are still working on our behalf even in the seasons when we could not see it. We thank You for the relationships You have placed in our lives, for the provision You have already made, and for the divine appointments that are coming. We are grateful, God. Deeply, genuinely grateful.
And now, Lord, we bring our petitions before You.
We pray for every government official, every elected leader, every person sitting in a seat of authority in this nation. Lord, their hearts are in Your hands. Turn them toward justice. Turn them toward righteousness. Frustrate every agenda that contradicts Your Word, and let no plot formed in darkness against the people You love succeed.
We pray against every plan and scheme of the enemy. Every trap that has been set, we ask You to expose it. Every assignment of destruction, we cancel it in the name of Jesus. God, let Your plans prevail. Let the expected end You promised come to pass for every person praying right now.
We lift up struggling families, the elderly, and those with disabilities. Lord, let supernatural provision reach the households that are stretched thin. Send the right people, the right resources, and the right breakthrough. Remind us to be part of the answer and not just the prayer.
Protect our God-ordained relationships. Hedge them in. Remove every spirit of offense, jealousy, and division. Let the people You have connected us with remain connected, and give us the discernment to guard what You have called covenant.
God, make us people who pray with power. Teach us to intercede. Give us a spirit of strategic, fervent, targeted prayer that moves heaven and changes things on earth. Let us not be casual about this. Let us be watchmen.
And Lord, send us to the harvest. Give us divine appointments this month. Let us not miss a single moment where You are opening a door to share Your love with someone who needs it. Make us bold enough to open our mouths and wise enough to know what to say. Send the laborers, and let us be among them.
We pray all of this by faith and in the name that is above every name.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
